The Chop Chop Dropped Today!!
Old School Dat Other Hip Hop Heads all ready know that anything that comes out of the Cross Movement records Camp is going to be straight ministry heat. Today Ambassador's third project "The Chop Chop" dropped. His first project "Christology" is without a doubt a classic, and The Chop Chop is just as good if not better.
Ambassador pulls no punches and like the pastor that he is, he brings the meat and weighty matters of the Gospel to the listener...but not to fret his skill and experience allows him to do so in a manner that is both enjoyable and desirable. If you haven't copped this already...you need to get moving. The Chop Chop is a classic straight out the shelf...go get it!
Check out the Ambassador behind the scenes as he tells us about The Chop Chop

What's His Name....His Name is Pro

I was web surfing the other day and I came across this entry titled "His Name is Pro" on the Holy Ridaz Remixxed website. I did a little digging and discovered Pro has been around for a minute and dude has a really nice flow. He just released a new mixtape, titled "mynameispro, The Introduction" hosted by the world famous DJ Wade-O and it is smokin hot!!! Since we showcase Dat Other Hip Hop here we thought we would introduce you to Pro.
Check the Bio:
Lets do the math. You’re handed 5:1 odds – You’re young, African American, born without a Silver Spoon in sight, living in a single parent household, and surrounded by hopelessness. Such were the odds against the now 23-year-old PRO. Born in Pontiac, Michigan as the son of a Jazz musician, music was inherited to PRO as a natural birthright. His parents met in Michigan where they instilled in him early, the foundations of the entertainment phenomenon you see today. While in the 1st grade shortly after his mother committed her life to Christ she and PRO relocated to Columbia TN leaving his determined father to pursue his Jazz career on his own.
“Growing up moms didn’t let me listen to rap until I was about 13 years old. I would go around from house to house, door to door, trying to get better at rapping and learning how to produce. I soon found out how quickly you can get the run around in the music world and how people will try to use your ideas for their gain.” PRO. But luckily in a place where poison was just an arms length away in every direction, the faith and support of a loving mother nourished the delicate dreams her son to prevent a stagnant imagination.
“At age 15 mom bought me my first 8-track recorder; the next year a keyboard so I could do my own music. She taught me how to be assertive and independent, and to not sweat the small stuff.” PRO This hard work and careful parenting landed PRO a scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University where he would begin to make his dreams a reality through his own record label. Hooking up with local artists and polishing his writing, production, and vocal skills PRO soon accumulated a small army of friends and support including the help of Chris “Dirty-Rice” Mackey the other half of the Hardworking duo “The Technicians”. Normally when I purchase a CD from an artist I am not familiar with I use a 3 to 4 song requirement, that is at least three or four songs have to be bangin in order for me to purchase the CD. Had I not been familiar with Brinson and the GCE reputation, "Escaping Me" would have easily met that requirement. What more is that after listening several times I have discovered that the messages in the songs promote me to thinking even long after the songs have stopped playing.
All in all I really enjoyed listening to this cd. My final thoughts are that in the process of escaping himself, Brinson has not only found freedom in Christ...but he has also found a new fan as well. I look forward to even more releases from him and the GCE camp.

Mr Del Gets a Deal... a Million Dollar Deal!
(from the press release)
Memphis, TN (August 8, 2008) After seven years in the music ministry with great success, Grammy Nominee, Mr. Del, announces the multi-million dollar deal he has inked with Universal Distribution. Formerly a member of the Oscar winning, platinum selling secular rap group Three-Six-Mafia, Mr. Del CEO/recording artist of Holy South Records as well as a recording artist for EMI, has begun a new and innovative conference called, "The Rapture: Holy Hip-Hop Conference." The conference is bringing Christian independent artists, national recording artists, and entertainment industry veterans together to launch a movement. This conference proved to be an effective tool in teaching Biblical principles to up and coming artists and to learn valuable skills in becoming a professional in the music industry. Last year's performers included, Mr. Del, IRocc Williams, Pettidee, Canton Jones, and Lisa McClendon just to name a few.
We are gonna keep our ears and eyes open on this one. Either way it's big news for Dat Other Hip Hop (aka Christian Hip Hop)
